.UK Domain Name Registration Terms and Conditions for Gatekeeper Technology Ltd.

How to contact us

Please contact us via the contact details on the main page about issues relating to domain names. We aim to respond to your contact within 2 business days and aim to resolve any issues you have within 5 business days.

To register a domain name

We do not offer commercial domain name registration. If you're a friend and want to register a .uk domain name through us, contact Tom directly.

Reporting abuse and complaints

If you wish to raise a complaint about abuse you have received (for example phishing scams, spam emails etc), please contact us via the contact details on the main page with as much detail about the abuse. We will investigate your complaint as soon as possible. Please note that if you received the email from systems that aren't ours, and your mail server doesn't check SPF records on incoming email, the response may be terse as it will have nothing to do with us and you could have avoided having to read it if your mail server were standards-compliant.

If you wish to make a complaint about a service you have received, please contact us via the contact details on the main page including as much detail from the issue as you have. We aim to acknowledge your complaint within 2 business days and to resolve any issues within 5 business days.

Note that issues with domains registered on the GKT tag (ie, through Formweb Ltd.) should initially be taken to Marcus at Formweb; whilst we're happy to be tier-2 support for domains registered through him, the first thing Tom's going to do is call Marcus to find out what's going on, and if it turns out you aren't talking to him, the response may well be terse.

If you're not happy with the initial outcome of your complaint, then you are able to escalate your issue to Nominet (the .uk registry) here.

Nominet's Terms and Conditions

When registering a domain name with us you agree also to Nominet's domain name registration Terms and Conditions.

Note to friends: this is true for all .uk domain names, so it applies to you too. This section is actually important and you should pay attention to it.

Renewals

We will contact you approximately one month before your domain is due for renewal to establish whether or not we should renew your domain for you. Ensuring that renewal doesn't lapse remains ultimately the registrant's responsiblity. Furthermore if your domain is set to auto renew but is no longer required, then we expect to be informed at least one month before renewal so that it can be cancelled in time. If an unwanted domain auto-renews, then we will still charge you for the renewal.

Expired domains policy

If you state that you no longer wish to have your domain name renewed, it will be left to expire. Your domain name will then go into a 30 day protected period (a first grace period of normal operation given by Nominet). After 30 days your domain will be suspended by Nominet and it will go into a 60 day second grace period, during which it will still be registered to you but won't work. If you change your mind and still want to retain your domain name, you still can and at the original renewal price, though renewal will be pre-dated to the original expiry date. This must be requested by email before the 80th day after your domain has expired. Approximately 93 days after expiry your domain will be cancelled and deleted from the register, and made available for resale through a third party registrar by Nominet. We cannot guarantee the renewal of a domain name after this happens.

tl; dr: don't ignore domain renewal emails, and act on them promptly whether you wish to renew or not.

Transfers away

If you wish to move your domain name to another registrar, we do not charge for transfers away (though we will require that any outstanding invoices are paid first).
